Policing a block long side of the street helps clean the local environment and puts things into recycling.

Years ago, when I lived in New York City and was attending the 7th Church of Christian Science, my wife and I had a treasure hunt party where one of the items was to clean a block and invite a stranger to the later party.  Part of NYC got picked up and two homeless men and a hustler got fed that night.  They were the life of the party and one started coming to church.

Someone said, global warming is really not outside, it is inside. The more I reflect on this, more it appears to be true. Because of our own bad habits, mother earth is warming up. And to change personal behaviour is the hardest thing to do. Here are 5 simple things I have tried adopting at work place with a lot of difficulty (honestly) over several months of continous attempts, some of these have now been established as habits. Never realized it would be so hard to mend my ways.

  1. Take stairs for first or second floor instead of elevator.
  2. Use reusable ceramic cup for drinks.
  3. Use cold water (weather permitting) to wash hands.
  4. Use hanky instead of paper towels.
  5. Unplug the extensio cord when leaving for the day

If ALL of us make our best effort in following this one simple principle: REDUCE > REUSE > RECYCLE, to think there is any chance for Global Warming?
