It's how we spend our time here and now, that really matters. If you are fed up with the way you have come to interact with time, change it. --Marcia Wieder

18-Minute Plan For Managing Your Day:
"Yesterday started with the best of intentions. I walked into my office in the morning with a vague sense of what I wanted to accomplish. Then I sat down, turned on my computer, and checked my email. Two hours later, after fighting several fires, solving other people's problems, and dealing with whatever happened to be thrown at me through my computer and phone, I could hardly remember what I had set out to accomplish when I first turned on my computer. I'd been ambushed. And I know better. When I teach time management, I always start with the same question: How many of you have too much time and not enough to do in it? In ten years, no one has ever raised a hand." Author/CEO consultant Peter Bregman offers his three step plan for managing your day. [more]

Bergman's 18 minutes plan is an excellent topic for carrierist professionals interested to apply in his work place in true spirit for  carrier progression.

As a professional  person  working as Senior Manager positon in  leading nationalised  bank I prefer  to add  my obsevations from  practical  view  to create interest in the mind of  people with inner meaning of the topic and its acceptance for effective application.

1)Priority of works depend mainly as per requirement of higher echelon  of an organisation and not to the individual wish of a person working in grass root level with limited adminstrative power. So compromise is needed with indivual wish and corporate desire of an organisation about priority of work before start of the day.

2) Removal of yesterday frustation and completion of unfinshed jobs in early part of the day and to make a plan sitting 5 minutes in own chair  before start of the day 's job.

3) Maintenance of good health with  positive energy in work.

4) Share of work plan  with competitive persons ,creating  pleasant amosphere of work  in an office . Upgradation of working knowledge and informations .

5) Avoid tension about the job. Over worriedness may create disturbance of mind and loss of time and energy for completion of  any schedule work.

6) Compromise of egostic behaviour of an individual.

7) Improvement of work culture through motivation and recognition of work of others.
