Priya Karve pondered the five million tons of leaves that were annually produced and discarded in her local Maharashtra, India. Was there any way this waste could be useful? After much thought, work, and experimentation, the answer turned out yes! Priya managed to produce a cheap and natural fuel, saving farmers tons, and benefiting the environment as well, winning her the prestigious Ashden Award.
