Conversations With the Many Faces of the Divine

November 28, 2020

Five years away from a pension, Rev. Eddie Rodriguez walked away from a long career and security with Bellsouth, and stepped onto the path that would lead him to the “meaning and purpose” he had been looking for.  For the last twenty years, while based in southern Florida, he has worked worldwide and throughout the United States as an interfaith minister – officiating weddings, creating special ceremonies for children, and presiding over funeral and memorial services – and also as a workshop ... Five Questions with Eddie

What makes you come alive?
There are many things that cause me to feel immense gratitude for being alive. Simple things such as spending time with family and friends, traveling and meeting new people, spending time in nature or reading a good book. I remember early on in my career as an Inter-Faith minister one particular experience that made me feel so very grateful and alive. I remember one particular wedding, walking up and turning around to face the guests. For a moment I felt like what it must be like speaking at the United Nations. There were so many people from different backgrounds, I could identify those that were Sikhs and those that were Jewish because of their headwear. There were those who were either Catholic or Christian based on the cross hanging from their necks. And scattered about those who appeared to be Buddhists wearing beautiful robes. All different and yet the same, all smiling, all gathered to celebrate what we all have in common, love and family.
A pivotal turning point in your life?
The most pivotal moment in my life was when the the book, Conversations with God came into my Life in 1995. The book changed everything about my Life. How I viewed myself, how I viewed others, and what we call God. It eventually led to a complete career change and has set the tone for my Life. I established a relationship with Neale Donald Walsch the author of the book. The friendship we share and the impact he has made in my life has been like no other.
An act of kindness you'll never forget?
A recent act of kindness occurred this year during the pandemic. I received a card with a monetary gift from a colleague who wanted to help. It was unexpected and pleasantly surprising that a colleague would randomly reach out and do his part to be of help.
One thing on your bucket list?
To own a small farm and host retreats, workshops and classes based on community, love, acceptance and awareness. A place where folks would come to become aware of all that is possible for them and how to create a life that serves them and the world.
One-line message for the world?
Whenever you see a need for love and kindness make it your mission to fill the need.
