In three Oregon school districts, improvements in the 2022 graduation rate outpaced the state for students who are Black, Native American, experiencing homelessness, or part of a migrant education program. In Salem-Keizer, whose migrant education program is the state’s largest, 81.5% of migrant students graduated. In Lincoln County, where three full-time staff members support Native American students, 80% of American Indian/Alaska Native students graduated compared to 68.9% statewide, and 76.9% of students experiencing homelessness compared to 58.6% statewide. In Portland Public Schools, which serves the largest number of Black students in the state, 79.4% of Black seniors in the district graduated in four years, up four percentage points from the previous year. Graduation rates for its Native students increased by 11.5%.
