Miami-Dade County is set to receive nearly $20 million from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support the acquisition of 50 new electric school buses and 16 DC fast chargers, as part of the EPA's Clean School Bus Program's Grants Competition. This initiative, aligned with President Biden's "Investing in America" agenda, aims to accelerate the transition to low- and zero-emission vehicles, contributing to improved air quality for children and families while advancing environmental justice. In total, Miami-Dade County's public school district will have 100 electric buses on the road. The grants, totaling $33,175,000, will also benefit three other Florida school districts, promoting economic growth and creating jobs. The EPA plans to continue funding for clean school buses in subsequent rounds, reflecting a broader commitment to sustainable and health-conscious transportation initiatives.
