Glacier Air and the BC Coast 99s, an international organization of women pilots, again hosted a Fly it Forward event at Squamish Airport on March 9. Last year, Glacier Air was able to fly over 120 women and girls and hoped to get at least 150 in the air this year. Colette Morin, who started flying in Squamish in 1997 and bought Glacier Air in 2002, won the 2023 Most Acclaimed Organizer Worldwide award. The Women of Aviation Worldwide Week event marks the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot licence, issued to Raymonde de Laroche of France on March 8, 1910. In 2023, 12% of all pilot licences went to women, says the Institute for Women Of Aviation Worldwide.
