Tesco: On the Way to a Zero-Waste U.K.

Tesco: On the Way to a Zero-Waste U.K.

Global supermarket chain Tesco has announced an initiative that would allow online shoppers to buy groceries with a zero-waste option. This means that in their online shopping cart, shoppers can choose to buy their groceries in reusable containers or packaging. Tesco is the grocery store of choice for about a quarter of all Britons, and should this zero-waste option take off, waste from food packaging which is a big source of it would be reduced drastically and lessen the number of items thrown in landfills and rubbish dumps. Tesco has started this initiative to see if it can gain traction and to assess the feasibility of Zero Waste in the U.K.
