'Tis The Season To Be Resourceful. How To Cut Waste This Christmas

'Tis The Season To Be Resourceful. How To Cut Waste This Christmas

This holiday season, trade consumerism for creativity and community, and show that the holiday season doesn't have to mean more waste! Across the UK, folks are stepping into the world of repair, with over 600 repair cafes offering a fix for your festive mishaps while sharing tea, cake, and camaraderie. As Bryan McAlley from the Chailey Repair Cafe puts it, "There's a social buzz to the place. The atmosphere is always upbeat, it's a lot of fun." Meanwhile, in Dundee, designer Christmas trees made from recycled materials are turning heads. Louise Forbes and Islay Spalding created a tree from discarded instruments, giving them a chance to "live and breathe again." And in Carmarthenshire, Lowri Johnston crafts Christmas wreaths from foraged foliage, celebrating the season's natural bounty. Spalding advises, "Take a break from your phone and fill your brain with all the amazing stuff that's around you." So, tap into the festive spirit by making your own magic from what's already out there!
