Between long lines at security checkpoints, coats stuffing already-cramped seats, and stressful weather delays, traveling for the holidays is often an arduous journey. So, Delta Airlines decided to reward the people who go out of their way to make it a little easier. This holiday season, Delta is celebrating 100 years of service, and will also be recognizing 100,000 acts of kindness among Delta employees and customers. The initiative is called Centennial Cheer. From December 5-January 5, Delta employees distributed Holiday Medallion cards to customers who demonstrated acts of kindness on their journey. “While holiday travel brings its own share of pressure, Delta is shifting the spotlight to the simple acts of humanity that make our journeys memorable,” a press release from the airline stated. The cards are not connected to a person’s loyalty status or flight activity, but are reserved for “customers who truly embody the holiday spirit.” According to Delta, the Holiday Medallion Cards can be redeemed for a “surprise gift” on the Delta Shop. Prizes include merchandise celebrating the airline’s 100-year anniversary, as well as a limited amount of “Centennial Gift Sets,” which feature commemorative trading cards and a $500 Delta gift card.
