On November 29, chef David Chang became the first celebrity to win a million dollars in "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" And he's donating it all to restaurant workers who have been affected by pandemic stay-at-home closures. "No [celebrity] has ever gone for it," talk show host Jimmy Kimmel said. "They've all walked away." For his part, Chang said, "This is the most painful, nervous -- this is terrifying." But he decided to risk losing the $500,000 he had amassed (which he could've walked away with) to go for the $1 million. His final question asked him the name of the first US president to have electricity in the White House. With the phone-a-friend help of ESPN journalist Mina Kimes, Chang guessed President Benjamin Harrison, not even knowing whether Harrison was a President. Screams ensued as show writer and director Alan Yang brought a giant check out on stage. Chang had won, and the winnings are going to Southern Smoke Foundation, a crisis relief organization for people in the food and beverage industry. They estimate Chang's donation will help 500 restaurant workers who have been hard-hit by the pandemic.
