Halifax, Nova Scotia, bus driver Aaron Wylie hadn't seen his mother since Christmas 2019, when he learned she was dying. He couldn't afford to visit her and then isolate for 14 days, but he did have a Class 1 trucker's license -- and truckers are essential workers who can travel between provinces. When he put up an online classified ad seeking a temporary job on a Halifax-Saint John route, his phone began ringing with offers of help. He has accepted two of them and now is exploring requirements he must meet in order to see his mother one last time.
