Since the war in Ukraine began, over 2 million refugees fled to other countries. Among those numbers are tens of thousands foreign students like twenty-fight year old Nigerian Emmanuel Oyedele caught in the line of fire. He, along with his brother and two female friends, fled Ukraine via train and trekked on foot for several days before making it to Berlin, Germany. There, they were welcomed by a kind stranger named Christian Vollmann, who invited them into his lake-side house. He said they were welcome to stay until the end of April. Vollmann was among hundreds of Germans waiting on the Berlin train platform, bearing a signs inviting the fleeing refugees into their residences. In my view this sends a very strong signal, said Vollmann. The more aggression there is, the more solidarity has to come from our side.
