A couple is "flower-bombing" the streets of San Francisco, spreading native wildflower seeds on patches of dirt around the city. Shalaco and Phoenix McGee are chronicling their decade-long mission to sow native wildflower seeds on TikTok, where their videos have over 40 million views. With a parmesan shaker of seeds, they walk or ride their skateboards through the city and scatter as they go. "When we plant these wildflowers, you see all of these different kinds of pollinators show up, pollinators that you've maybe never even seen in your neighborhood before," says Phoenix. However, says Shalaco: "You don't want to be planting where there's already conservation going on, in like state parks, where there's agriculture happening, or where someone already has, like, you know, a plan going on for their garden."
