Amazing Grace, by Wintley Phipps

At Carnegie Hall, gospel singer Wintley Phipps delivers perhaps the most powerful rendition of Amazing Grace ever recorded. He says, "A lot of people don't realize that just about all Negro spirituals are written on the black notes of the piano. Probably the most famous on this slave scale was written by John Newton, who used to be the captain of a slave ship, and many believe he heard this melody that sounds very much like a West African sorrow chant. And it has a haunting, haunting plaintive quality to it that reaches past your arrogance, past your pride, and it speaks to that part of you that's in bondage. And we feel it. We feel it. It's just one of the most amazing melodies in all of human history." After sharing the noteworthy history of the song, Mr. Phipps delivers a stirring performance that brings the audience to its feet!

Thank you for sharing this video .
We are human first and are equal in all respects irrespective of race , religion or creed . It is pity that in the world we live of today divides
us along us the same lines . God created us as equals .

I was moved to tears when I heard Wintley Phipps explain how the slaves only used the black notes to express their music. Makes me sad to think how we as Americans & the world put them below us because of the color of their skin. They have some of the most beautiful singing voices in the world. If given good chances they are as productive as anyone no matter race or creed. God made them just like He made the rest of the world - blood, skin, organs, and all that makes a body work. Thank you God for not making us all alike but giving us the choice to be kind and loving to everyone. I could preach a sermon but who listens to old ladies. God bless our world that we have made a mess out of since the early days of Adam & Eve. What a wonderful message from Mr Wintley Phipps!! Great voice!!
