Charlie Chaplin: Let Us Free the World

Some call it the greatest speech ever made. This remix puts Charlie Chaplin's climactic address from "The Great Dictator" (1940) into present-day context, showing how the spirit of liberty, brotherhood, and equality that defeated fascism seven decades ago must be urgently reclaimed.
Be The Change
1
Chaplin’s "The Great Dictator" was a brilliant, daring satire of the rise of Adolf Hitler and Nazism, long before the U.S. entered WWII.  Learn more about this important film.
2
Listen to other great political speeches from decades-gone-by and reflect on the ways that the problems persist, the ideals remain unfulfilled, and the messages remain relevant.

Try this thought experiment: if, like Charlie Chaplin in "The Great Dictator", you had the opportunity to “speak truth to power” to whom would you address your words and what would you say?

We need awakening of our mind today & this is what Charlie Chaplin is doing... it’s what we call VEDANTA education ( awareness).

Universal human concern
Let’s make it the norm

Chaplin was a true artist and a little unconventional. He started out with a rough life but was able to change that around through his abilities. His early life no doubt inspired his political beliefs which probably have more value today than before. Today, things are a little different than 1940 and before. While there are some similarities, there are many differences that make this video more meaningful to us today.

These things he says are more true than ever today. They are true in all times...Bravo!

Note: Much of Chaplin’s “sins” were created by agencies of government as a communist element and threat as many in the arts were at that time. Paul Robson was another. Inconvenient voices. Chaplin may well have strayed from today’s improved ethic but he was no deviant as many being hauled out in public today from the entertainment world. He was a genius and that particular speech is beyond the aggressive nature of some driving politics today. Viva Charlie, viva humanity and collaboration.
Don MacWatt
Eighty years on, that plea for sanity, compassion and reason to prevail against the insanity of today’s politics and competition for dominance, growth and greed. What an opportunity there has always been to bring together the best of humanity and not our worst. Truly a remarkable speech. Thank you for dusting it off. It has fresh relevance.

While I, as many, are not familiar with the depths of Charlie Chaplains sins...
if this video can reignite the individual and collective power to wake up the Americans and all who care about authentic-freedom, then It has served mankind with justice. Fascism is a mirror for our Individual and collective “dangerous-moral reckoning“ for CHANGE. The film described what to CHANGE—our perspectives to revisit Wholeness”!

You need to research your topics more thoroughly. Charles Chaplin was a womanizer, a masochist, and a pedophile. Sure, he believed in equal treatment as long as they aren’t woman.
He seduced and impregnated his wife at 15 In the documents found in 2015, Lita Grey describes his “revolting” and “inhumane” treatment of her.

I wish the music wasn't louder than his speaking. Most annoying.

Hoping this will open people's minds to the trouble of the overwhelming lies, misleading information and propaganda so prevalent in the news. People just blindly following the opinions of the ones craving power to rule over us and take away our fundamental rights just as the right to protect ourselves. Vote for the party that first opposed slavery, and also gave black people the right to vote- the same party as President Abraham Lincoln. VOTE RED!!!

Seems that evry generation needs to be reminded over and over of the horrible consequences when democracy gives way to Facism. Be concerned when Great orators claim to do great things.
Erica
