Parrot Rescue and Sanctuary - Feathered Friends Forever

Unwanted, discarded, abandoned and abused parrots from all over the United States are housed and cared for in a 10 acre facility in Harlem, Georgia - possibly the largest parrot rescue and sanctuary in America. The rescue effort began with 4 birds in Ron and Tammy Johnson's home and has now grown to shelter over 1,000 birds in two facilities. With life expectancies of 90 to 100 years for some of the larger birds, pets are outliving their owners, highlighting the need for sanctuaries like Feathered Friends Forever.

I am 75 yrs old and have a Sulfur Crest and U2. I have had them both since they were 5mos.old. My sulfur is 22 and my U2 is 17. I am a retired surgical nurse ad have developed a severe chronic lung condition. My physician has told me I need to rehome them. They are like my children and I cannot describe how heartbtoken I am.
I also recently lost my Timneh(20yrs old) to CHF. I actually weaned her. I have researched many sanctuaries and am most impressed with yours. They each have AE McCaw dome top cages. I can and will help support them as long as possible. If best I will continue to send their food and toy and will also donate about #2000 dollars initially. I live in middle Tennessee-phone is 615-934-0255 Thank you for your time and I hope a positive response.

I saw this vid and was inspired by your love for these birds.I recently commented on a terrible parrot sactuary in Coombs,BC, Canada. No parrots are adopted out. Uninspired housing, inadequate food etc. I said to check out fff. Then I saw the scam post about 1500 birds and filth and my heart was broken. I hope this was wrong...I have always loved what you've done for these babies...I have six birds. Please tell me the scam page was a hoax.

I have been out to the sanctuary several times, and I respect the work that Tammy and Ron are doing and their love for these birds. They truly give of their selves to make sure the birds have a good safe home

I have been to FFF 3 times now, and enjoyed meeting everyone there -- especially the birds. Each and every bird has a story -- and some are more unique than others. Each and every bird has a personality all its own. I have 13 birds that I have rescued from various places from people that did not want them, or could not care for them. All birds need a loving and safe place to lived. All of thed birds at FFF are well treated, fed and cared for. FFF is continually upgrading their facilities and learning about what each species needs -- even birds with handicaps are taken into consideration and they are able to function with other birds. The volunteers at FFF are great, and I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. Thanks FFF for a job well done!!

I'm always amazed at the improvements each time I go to FeatheredFriendsForever. My first trip was 8 years ago where I met Tasha our Cockatoo. She was a victim of domestic violence, a brutal divorce and was bloody chested. She was listed as a vicious bitter. Now she is one of the most loving creatures you'll ever meet. She just need a family that cared about her. As someone wise once said: 'As you give, so shall you receive.' She is a mirror of those around her and a blessing in our lives.

I would recommend not going to a pet shop and supporting a breeder for your bird... adopt from FFF! The have a better working knowledge on the proper care for the beautiful babies!

I've seen the staff at FeatheredFriends constantly improving on the quality of care these beautiful birds receive. They are always upgrading the flights with new technology. The guys at FFF have a great love for what they do and I for one appreciate the dedication to the care of these beautiful birds.

43 states are not equipped to handle aviary and ship unwanted birds and those left behind by owners who have passed to FFF.

It was an honor to shoot the video and will be sending a new video soon of all the improvements being made at FFF. When I get involved with a charity, I want to know how much goes to benefit the recipients. I'm please to say, the staff at FFF, are all volunteer and the funds go to the upkeep of these beautiful birds.

Visit in person and see the amazing work that is done 24/7/365 by just a few unpaid volunteers. In 2012 they now care for over 1300 birds, continue to expand, all by private donations. They need sponsors for the new outdoor aviaries, sponsors for all the birds and are in desparate need of a new well ($8000) to supply water for the expansion and new habitats. You can adopt a parrot in person, or do a "virtual adoption" which is tax deductible. It's located between Atlanta and Augusta, GA (south of I-20 exit 183) if you're ever nearby it's well worth the visit. The newsletter is really enjoyable since it's "written" by some of the parrots.
Please help them if you can. I did!
