Midway - Message From the Gyre

Midway Island is 2,000 miles from the nearest continent. It is home to the beautiful Laysan albatross. It is also home to astonishing quantities of plastic trash that has journeyed across the ocean. In this trailer for the forthcoming film, "Midway," Chris Jordan records the epidemic of albtross death caused by ingestion of human waste. He asks, "Do we have the courage to face the realities of our time and allow ourselves to feel deeply enough that it transforms us and our future?"

Littering is always wrong, which is why you don't do it.  You probably also conscientiously sort your trash and recycle. Now, take the next step: mindfully reduce your consumption of plastic packaging.

tHIS FILMS INSPIRES ME TO CONTINUE THE BATTLE OF MAKING PEOPLE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT IF WE DESTROY OUR ECOSYSTEM, WE ARE DESTROYING OURSELVES AND THE FUTURE GENERATIONS. IT´S A PITY, BUT..SHOWING FILMS LIKE THIS MIGHT EVENTUALLY HELP DIMINISH THIS PROBLEM.

Inspiration not. The saddening and maddening of the caviler way society treats this planet and life upon it. We don't think about the havoc our actions creates. We are not very well informed about how what we do affects the earth and everything on it. I don't know if it's a lack of resources or interest on our part but we continue to act as if we don't give a damn. It will catch up with us and we will be caught with our "pants down" wondering what happened. In short the question is; do we care?

The deep grief. Reminding me of the first time I became aware of this, when I saw an interview with Captain Charles Moore of Algalita Marine Research. He had just returned from sailing into the Pacific to study plastic damage to marine life. He had an expression of grief that never left his face. The film is reverent, and the beauty is almost unbearable.

Everything about it -- the tenderness of the love and trust of these exquisite creatures, their sweet innocence suffering. The images tell the story. The music is perfect, and the narration is brief and perfect. Thank you, Chris Jordan.

Thank you . The film is an eye opener what we humans are doing to destroy the all living beings the Universe has created . A wonderful message to be shared with everyone .

I feel this film is to be shown to all the children all over the world.
We adults have lost that sensitivity to stop plastic use and polluting the oceans with it.
I really think that MAN in general has decided to poison this beautiful Earth so badly that next generation would die
Prematurely . My hearty congrats to Chris for making this video so effective. PLEASE SPREAD THE MESSAGE.

I was walking on the famous Juhu beach in Mumbai two weeks ago with Vipul, my cousin and we saw thousands of enthusiastic Mumbai citizens swimming, running around, playing cricket, flying helium filled balloon dolls in the sky, making sand houses on the shore, feeling cozy with each other, eating variety of food stuff, and, in general, enjoying, making their evening a memorable one. But we also saw, and took pictures of millions of plastic stuff floating in the sea, obviously released by the merry makers of that evening, and every evenings. A thought occurs to me after seeing this film that such films must be shown on the sea shores across the world where millions gather every day to make merry. Perhaps we can reduce the plastic stuff reaching such innocent birds over period.

We and the eco system are irrevocably connected. Kill the system, kill ourselves. Scientific fact.

Sometimes we need a little push.....I am going to try very hard to not buy plastic.....this film is so beautiful....you don't want to look but you have too....
Kathryn
Beautiful message... Sadly, after the birds, we will be next. The web of life is broken and we must change our ways... NOW. Thank you for the beautiful, yet saddening film.

Hard to watch our feathered friends submit to such a hardship.

The gentle gestures while facing truly tragic truths and the question about whether or not we have the courage to feel this truth. Thank you. I'm a high school teacher and will surely pass this film onto my students.
