Jada Jones thought a waiter was just being kind when he brought out birthday dessert. But when Phae'l, a Jamaican server she'd only just met, relit the candles and spoke-"Red is for who you lost yesterday. Yellow is to celebrate your birthday as bright as the sun today. And green is what you are about to prosper in the world"-she began to sob. He couldn't have known that red was the color of her partner's mother, who had just passed, or that the funeral fell on Jada's birthday, or that the family wore red to honor her. Sometimes grace arrives through a stranger who simply listens, who offers what they have, and who-without knowing the full story-gets it exactly right.
