You Are Already Awake - by Dharma Lab and Dr. Cortland Dahl

A Vietnam veteran thrown into the air by a mortar shell experienced, in that moment between life and death, a state of radiant clarity so complete it reorganized his identity -- yet he spent thirty years searching for language to understand what had happened. What he'd glimpsed was rigpa, the Tibetan word for the nature of awareness itself: not the mind filtered through identity and habit, but the open, knowing quality that underlies all experience, like sky beyond weather. Contemplative traditions describe this recognition as "meeting your own mind face to face," suggesting that what we spend our lives searching for outside ourselves is already present, already whole. The journey back requires both direct practice -- learning to glimpse pure awareness -- and the slower work of loosening the mental patterns that keep us from seeing what has always been there. "You are already in this moment, as awake as you will ever be," the teaching suggests, pointing not toward self-improvement but toward recognition of something we've been overlooking all along.
