When surgeons at Bradford Royal Infirmary saved part of Eliz Sandalls's vision in 2023, they gave her more than the ability to see -- they preserved her capacity to give. Despite being registered blind, she has crocheted over 100 colorful baby blankets for the hospital's maternity ward, spending nearly three days on each two-foot square creation. "They are comfort blankets for little people because babies are not babies for long," she explains, finding purpose in the painstaking work her limited sight still allows. For a woman who never had grandchildren, each stitch becomes an act of gratitude, threading together loss and generosity into something that warms both cribs and hearts.
