At 98, Ahmedabad Nani Builds a Homemade Food Business From Her Kitchen

At 98, Prabhavati Nani of Ahmedabad still tastes every batch, approves every order, and begins each morning the way she has for decades - in the kitchen. After her husband passed away in 2017 and her children and grandchildren went their separate ways, the house grew quiet, and so did a lifelong practice of nourishing others. Then a single request - "Nani, can you make khandvi for my party?" - opened a door she didn't know was still there. What followed became Nani's Nashta, a home food business now serving more than 200 families across Ahmedabad. "Earlier, I cooked for my family," she says. "Today, I cook for many families. I am not just someone's wife or mother. I am a founder."
