How This Senior Travel Company Is Helping Over 350 Seniors Travel with Confidence

After losing her father to cancer at 64 - just months after watching him dance beside the sea in Kerala - Saakshi Maheshwari did something quietly radical: she turned grief into a gift for strangers. "I couldn't fulfil my father's dream for him," she says, "but I could build something that would help hundreds of others fulfil theirs." Her company, The Original Travel Company, takes small groups of seniors across India and the world at a pace designed around their comfort, not a checklist - scouting every route in advance, capping groups at 14, and asking one orienting question before every trip: "If I were travelling with my own parents, what would I want them to experience?" In the 350 seniors who have traveled with her since 2023, Saakshi has found something her father's death made urgent: that postponing joy is its own quiet loss, and that confidence, not age, is usually what stands between a person and the life they still want. Her father spent his life helping people live healthier; she is helping them live happier - and finding, in that work, a way to keep going herself.
