When a storm severed the only road to Hatteras Island and stranded most of their wedding guests, Jayden Sink and Kimberly Laprad could have grieved the day they had planned. Instead, a single social media invitation went out to strangers, and more than 400 people answered it - bringing food, music, photographs, a dance floor full of unfamiliar faces, and something harder to name. Stacey Saunders, who runs the campground where the celebration unfolded, offered the pavilion, opened her cabins, and volunteered to officiate; a DJ, a photographer, local businesses, and island residents filled in the rest without being asked twice.
