I see "competition" as part of teamwork and sportmanship. My 5 sons play(ed) Texas high school football and that is competition at its finest---but also teamwork and definitely sportsmanship (at the winningest high school in Texas over the last 50 years). Often times, the person we're competing with is ourselves---and that is where striving for excellence comes in.
