This is a great conversation. I'd like to point out an evidence based communication style that has over 40 years of research behind it. It's called motivational interviewing and came from the work of William R Miller. Motivational interviewing is currently being taught around the globe in a vast area of settings, including healthcare. I'd highly recommend taking a look at the book Empathic Listening by William R. Miller. Words are very powerful and listening is foundational to a peaceful existence.
