you got it, i always wonder why? They must think its like a huge video game or something? too surreal.
The Foundation boasts massive investments in companies with questionable practices (like Monsanto) and the justification for doing so is two-fold.
1. Maximizing return. The Foundation cares deeply about the bottom line of its investment portfolio as the returns finance research and development projects all over the world.
2. Voting rights. Owning large, and occasionally controlling, percentages of these companies allows The Foundation to influence company policies and practices.
Lisa, the rampant spelling errors in your post detract from its perceived veracity, you should correct them.
Spot on Lisa - for the record. Its a matter of public record that Gates' Foundation is a vehicle of control, in keeping with his dominant wealth and dominant business enterprise. (To say nothing of the hideous agenda that lies beneath.)

This is such a narrow viewpoint. On one hand the article is promoting love and compassion and here i see venom, Instead of looking at things from a different angle, you are focusing what is wrong with Bill Gates. Instead of looking at things from how it has benefited thousands and millions of poor people around the globe, you are looking at how Gates is not doing things what suits your personal viewpoint.
I will feel blessed if i could do one millionth of what him and his foundation has done for the world. You may have differing personal views but his contribution as a philanthropist cannot be minimized.

Lots of food for thought. Thank you for this story. I have spent most of my life trying to figure out what my legacy could be (I am 58). Sometimes, I think it is just being the best person I can be to everyone - including animals and the environment. There are many ways of spreading ripples out from what you do, even if you're not in a helping profession. "A happy waitress can do more good in the world than a doctor who is miserable."
