This should be a real blog post, rather than a comment hidden at the bottom of one. Nicely said. KarenY, your words should be considered serious food for thought.
hi again Karen Y. nice to see your thoughts here. Thought provoking and passionate! I agree with JaneP. Serious food for thought.
I recently listened to a speech by Charles Eisenstein on youtb. called "Money and the Turning of the Age, part 1" He starts with a quiz that goes like this:
What is it that is a Universal Presence, that knows no limits, that's essence is invisible and immaterial, that none the less directs human affairs, that All Things come from it and return to it and you could say it makes the world go round? Answer choices:
A. The Tao,
B. God
C. Spirit
D. Money
his answer was Money, and someone in the crowd suggested all of the above, Which was his point.
He goes on to show how money has taken over everything including all those things that once were (and should still be) free.
I actually had to stop reading the above article when Dubner mentioned the program by the Fed gov. concerning Race to the Top with Education. calling it a great idea. He claimed that the Fed. Gov gave the states the opportunity to create a better education program. of course the motivation/prize is Money/funding... Dubner has no idea what he is talking about and supporting here. At least he admitted he doesn't know how it worked out. Common Core State Standards is the result of The federal Gov agenda with public education. and it has nothing to do with the states or communities or even educators creatively coming up with a better program. It was forced down the throats of each state with the threat that if they did not comply they would lose all federal funding. Dubner should have taken his own advice on that one and simply said I Don't Know and left it at that.
Wow karen! Absolutely beautiful insight .. Peace ...
