Trashin' the Big Apple
New Yorkers waste more than those living in any other city in America, but there exists no major policy, movement or plan to remedy the resultant damage to the earth and its citizens. This 8-minute films spotlights sanitation authorities and city businesses, demonstrates steps for solutions at home, and even tours the Rikers Island Prison composting facilities, offering solutions for both large scale operations and individuals alike. With 'Garbageland' author Elizabeth Royte and former NYC Composting Director Tom Outerbridge, "Trashin' the Big Apple" is a short but comprehensive ride through the mounting problem of food waste.
