Lady Lifers Sing from Prison
In November 2014, a group of women known as The Lady Lifers took to the TEDx stage inside Muncy State Prison to sing about their experiences. These women have all been sentenced to life in prison and in Pennsylvania there is no chance of parole. Of the ten women who make up The Lady Lifers, many have been incarcerated for well over twenty years, and inmate Trina Garnett has been in prison since she was fourteen years old. After their powerful song, the women who have been primarily known by their inmate numbers definitively state their names and declare, “This is not my home.”
