Compassion Is Action

"Environmental conservation must be the essence of our spiritual practice." ~His Holiness the 17th Karmapa. From Ladakh to Bhutan, Buddhist nuns and monks from 60 centers in the Himalayan region work on environmental protection. From cleaning up rivers, to installing solar panels, the nuns and monks approach the environment with a sense of compassion, recognizing the interdependence and inter-connectivity of all things. "...Compassion is a combination of the feeling and the action." ~Khenpo Drugyal, Tilokpur Nunnery Teacher.

I loved how the nuns used their spirituality transferring it into caring for Mother Earth. By cleaning up the river they helped creatures in and around it. Growing their own food and tending to it with such love and gratitude was inspiring too. All in all their camaraderie and love for Mother Earth was heartfelt.

This video inspires me. I live and work already for five years in the Northern part of Thailand. One of the things I guide is Buddhist Phylosophy and Samatha and Vipassana meditation. The Buddha was inspired by nature. So am I.

Thailand does not feel home, for me it is home. For me it's a shame to see how people in the environment I live (Chiang Mai / Mae Rim area) deal with nature. They use it as a dump distroying and poluting nature for next generations with garbage, rubbish and the anual burning. So there is something to learn and we need to learn to give future generations a possibility to live and go on. Using nature as a 'marketplace to learn and to reflect'.

There is a need to teach children at primary schools. Students on secondary schools and universities. And now I see, with this video, a 'spark' also the 'spiritual world' is responding and reflecting. Everything is interconnected (and temporary). Compassion is wisdom in action. Great to see everybody can join. Working and coming together to safe nature and future.

Thank you I needed this message of hope today especially with all going on in the US since Trump has taken office and is doing away with so much goodness that protects our beautiful planet. May each of us stand up and do what we can as individuals and hopefully those in power hear us again.
