Sounds good in theory but...if we're not on the same page of what constitutes love, we're in for a heap of abuse, especially when it comes to the golden rule: men feel the need to control their women out of love by "protecting" their honor. Although he chose US to raise me, my Taiwanese dad has been trying since my teens to "fix me" by controlling me; through manipulations, shaming, blaming, judging, etc.until I fit into his little box of "acceptability" how I live, dress, eat, date, raise kids, etc.

I think some of the average US citizen's impression of the world is also due to the way most travel, if they travel at all. They go to resorts and fancy hotels to see highlights from brochures and don't get to socially mix with average people who live there. They miss learning about the real living culture of other places. They go with the attitude of "we are the best," which colors their perceptions.
