When we soften the voice of our ego which likes opposition, an enemy, to be right, great listening can take place. Listening that doesn’t need to come to conclusions. In my experience it is such a free place to live from. The need to be heard, causing interruptions isn’t there. The need to correct the other isn’t there. Only deep authentic listening. When the other receives your gift of listening often times he or she will mirror back to you your grace and consideration. The concept is quite simple but it is so hard to do when one hasn’t worked with his or her ego in this way before. It takes practice to soften our ego but the rewards are so great.
