Dr Wayne
Enjoyed this article, but you left out one thing and that is tai chi’s self-defense/martial art aspect- which is more prominent in the Chen Village system. I’ve studied various martial arts since January 1983, including an old school version of yang style and then discovered Chen taijiquan in 1998, in the lineage of Chen Quanzhong- who recently passed away at 100 years old.
The spiraling/silk reeling motions in Chen tai chi are quite often left out of other tai chi systems. The spiraling/silk reeling does a great deal more to open the body than what I experienced in the other methods I practiced.
Thanks again for your great article, be well.
