YES! Thank you for being so candid! It's time to LISTEN more intently to the locals, collaborate more deeply and focus not on Pity/Poverty but on the Potential and Possibility which exists throughout the world. Every "developing" country I've traveled and volunteered in so far contains MULTITUDES of people with Incredible Ideas; often what's needed is a catalyst NOT a program from the outside. This is what we do at Artfully AWARE; we elicit and collect stories from every day people in developing countries about the projects they are doing that are lifting each other up; those projects are then bound into a book which is Shared; the idea being to Spread Best practices and programs (most) created and run by local people.
