Chaz’s Story

Rev. Charles "Chaz" Howard is the youngest ever chaplain to be appointed The University Chaplain as well as the Vice President for Social Equity & Community at the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater. Over his more than quarter-century at Penn, he and his team have worked to curate a dynamic spiritual and religious community on and around campus. He has also served communities through congregational ministry, as a hospital chaplain, as an author, husband, and father of three children. His decades of experience along the profoundly human walk in ministry sparks stories shaped by hospital rooms, classrooms, dinner tables, and countless moments of embracing grace over flawlessness.
