What if it is a letting go of false hope, as you called 'hopium' and rather the letting in of moving through with as much compassion, purpose and the willingness to take whatever even seemingly small actions could impact and doing so with the goal of together, even if that together is small groups of 10 to 12, because to let go of any hope whatsoever, not of turning it around at this time, but of moving through whatever is coming together, would mean, for me anyway, to die, hopeless, nearly now.
