People don't even want a stranger to breathe on them these days, yet they will eat a random cake? Really???

I agree completely. We don't have cable TV or new cars and we buy a lot of our clothes second-hand and we shop with coupons. We do this so that we can put money into savings and so that we have the funds to help others in our community. For us it is mostly animals we help, but we also help homeless people and low-income families and veterans, as these are the causes we care about the most. Also, our pets' well-being is important to us and they get the care they need. It's really about prioritizing. Is caring for a living thing that depends on you something that you value, or are "things" and luxuries most important?
