London’s Unique Charity-Led Restaurant Gets a Makeover
A London restaurant has reopened as 130 Primrose, a registered charity where people who have experienced homelessness receive paid work, accredited training, and six-month contracts in fine dining. MasterChef judge Monica Galetti has joined as executive chef and trustee, bringing her culinary expertise to a project that has already helped sixteen people move through its doors -- five into permanent hospitality roles elsewhere. "I've seen first-hand how, with the right support, people can rediscover hope, dignity and purpose through opportunities like this," Galetti explains, while the restaurant's founders emphasize they are proving "that talent can flourish anywhere." The real measure of success will be whether diners return for the food itself -- scallop ceviche, Mediterranean-influenced dishes, eventually touches of Samoan heritage -- and leave understanding that the person who served them is building not just a meal, but a future.
