Certainly there are good and bad times, but our mood changes more often than our fortune. --Jules Renard

Clean Smell Inspire Virtue?:
A new study found that people are more likely to give away money and volunteer their time when they're in a clean-smelling room. Researchers conducted two experiments. In the first, the participants were given $12 cash and told that an anonymous partner in the next room expected them to divide it fairly. In practice, the folks in the clean-smelling room returned nearly twice as much money as those in the non-scented room. In the second experiment, participants in both rooms were asked how willing they would be to donate time and money to the charitable organization Habitat for Humanity. Participants in the clean-scented room not only were more willing to volunteer time, 22 percent of them were likely to donate money, compared to only 6 percent of those in the unscented room. [more]

This is the second time I've seen this article posted, and frankly I find it odious.

Now, on "Thanksgiving" day, which should properly be recognized as "The National Day of Mourning" suggested by the First Nations people, in remembrance of the genocide visited upon them by foreign invaders, as we commence another orgy of consumption which has condemned billions to live on the dung heaps of our refuse.

How can you print, not once, but twice, such unmitigated and unsubstantiated trash? The same claims to cleanliness defining the virtuous against some "other" have been used for centuries to justify genocide. (Is my comment too "negative" for you to print on a day of blissful gluttony?)

I strongly suggest you do some serious reflection this "Thanksgiving" day on what is probably the worst article you've ever promulgated, and consider your ipso facto denigration of the generosity of the poor.

For me, cleanliness in this article does not mean extreme intolerance and fear of the unknown.

In fact, the opening quote and closing inspirational statement promotes "awareness of how external conditions interface with our internal state". By recognising that, leaving external conditions on the the outside and focusing our energy & attention inward, we are in a better position to become more conscious and thus truer to our essence. Love is our true essence and therefore naturally leads to compassion and charity.

One more instances of useless research to prove the obvious.

One more example of the wasteful practices of the affluent.
