That's a false equivalence, Beth. Your precious plant-based diet kills just as much wildlife as meat-factories do, on a wider, more subtle scale. How do your lovely soybeans taste when you stop and think about the combines coming along the fields (drenched in chemicals and irrigated with groundwater) devouring all in its path, including bugs, butterflies, caterpillars, rodents, birds, and small mammals? Plenty of dead insects get ground up in your canned beans, or else your produce was picked by migrant workers who get paid squat. There's no "cruelty-free" in a plant-based diet, I'm sorry to say, unless you strictly eat and live by foraging and gathering and growing >>your own<< vegetables, and putting up everything for the winter and for the coming hard times.

So don't preach to me about a plant-based diet being best for the world.
