Yes, if the author is seeing and observing all these marvels, he is not bored. Boredom is ennui; here we see attentiveness, interest in all of life, even a feeling of connection to all that is. That is not boredom! The poetry is lovely until that word.
I think now a days it's called "mindfulness". Just taking time out to sit and relax and observe your surroundings wherever you might be. It gives you time to think, reflect and appreciate even, what you are looking at. :)
Good poinmt MKSP=If one decides to take a day off from the world, and yet is still board, then that defeats the purpose of doing nothing. Might as well just go back to doing something. If one sits quietly, and enjoys doing nothing-THAT is a different story.

Nice comics, makes you think of something... Instead of doing nothing, it is so much better to get a short term loan and start a business of your own.
Take responsibility for your boredom...
there is a big difference in doing nothing and being bored. how can you be bored with all that going on?

Boredom? Not at all!
Seems to me the last line really was, "Today is a holiday dedicated to the openness and wonder of doing nothing."
