Toen mijn oma artritis kreeg, kon ze niet meer voorover buigen om haar teennagels te lakken. Dus mijn opa doet het constant voor haar, zelfs toen zijn handen ook artritis kregen. Dat is pas liefde.

Auteur en docent Leo Buscaglia vertelde ooit over een wedstrijd die hij moest jureren. Het doel van de wedstrijd was om het meest zorgzame kind te vinden.
De winnaar was een vierjarig kind met een oudere buurman die onlangs zijn vrouw had verloren.
Toen hij de man zag huilen, liep het jongetje naar de tuin van de oude heer, klom op zijn schoot en bleef daar gewoon zitten.
Toen zijn moeder vroeg wat hij tegen de buurman had gezegd, zei het kleine jongetje:
"Niets

Children know love before they are born, I think... from there, they are nurtured (hopefully) and they love as they have observed "love". Parents are vital in this role. People in their lives who have substance and good character will rub off on little kids and they will run with that and grow! Sometimes, it is under tragic circumstances that a child must learn LOVE on their own, and it's tricky because environment and resources (or lack thereof) can mean the difference between an opportunity to shine, or to fall to a bad way of life. Either way, I firmly believe that angels are always around to guide them...
