የብሬና ማርቲን አባት በመጨረሻው ደቂቃ መግዛትን አይወድም። ብራያን ማርቲን ለሴት ልጁ የሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ምረቃ ስጦታ ገዛ - በዚህ ወር መጀመሪያ ላይ የሆነው - ከአስራ ሶስት ዓመታት በፊት። ይህን ሁሉ ጊዜ ሊደበቅ ችሏል፣ እና የእሱ “እንቅስቃሴ፣ ልብ የሚነካ፣ ናፍቆት እና አሳቢነት” ያቀረበው (ቃላቷ) አባ በመጨረሻ ሲሰጣት ብሬናን አለቀሰች።
ስጦታው -- "ኦህ፣ የምትሄዱባቸው ቦታዎች!" -- ከ$20 በታች የሆነ የገንዘብ ዋጋ አለው ፣ ለብሬና ግን "በእውነት በዋጋ ሊተመን የማይችል" ነበር። ምክንያቱም ከውስጥ፣ በዶ/ር ስዩስ ታዋቂ ግጥሞች አንቀፆች መካከል፣ ብሬናን በትምህርት ቤት ያስተማረችው አዋቂ ሁሉ ከመዋዕለ ሕፃናት አስተማሪዎቿ ጀምሮ አስተያየቶች እና ምስጋናዎች ስለነበሩ ነው።
ብሬና ለስጦታው የሰጠው ምላሽ በምረቃው ቀን እንባ አላቆመም። በመፅሃፉ በጣም ስለተነካች ታሪኩን በመስመር ላይ ለቀቀች እና በ Reddit ላይ አገናኝ ጨምራለች ፣ ስጦታው ብዙ ትኩረት ስቧል ፣ ከወደፊት ወላጆች እና ከትናንሽ ልጆች ወላጆች ቢያንስ የብሬናን አባት ምሳሌ ለመከተል አስበዋል ። አንድ ወላጅ እንዲያውም በዚህ ዓመት መጀመሪያ ላይ ተመሳሳይ ፕሮጀክት ስለመጀመር ለጥፈዋል ።
አባዬም የሬዲት ንግግሩን ተቀላቀለ ፣ “ብሬና ይህን እንደለጠፈች አላምንም... ምንጊዜም የህይወቴ ብርሃን ነች። ይህን ማድረግ እሷን ለማሳወቅ ትንሽ መንገድ ነበር።
ብሬና የራሷን የልጆቿን የምረቃ ስጦታዎች በማዘጋጀት ወደ ሥራ ከገባች፣ ልክ ከአባቷ በላይ የመዋጋት ዕድል ሊኖራት ይችላል።

wow, what a beautiful and touching gesture. It's also a great reminder that often the best most cherished gifts don't come with a big price tag.
i used to work with teens in wilderness for extended periods of & at the end of a trip, i often would read "oh the places you will go" Perhaps it was as much a reminder/ inspiration to me as it was to them.

Wow - how charming! When my 19 year old son was a toddler, he received that book as a gift, and we found it so appropriate that it became our default gift for other children's birthdays.
