wow, what a beautiful and touching gesture. It's also a great reminder that often the best most cherished gifts don't come with a big price tag.
i used to work with teens in wilderness for extended periods of & at the end of a trip, i often would read "oh the places you will go" Perhaps it was as much a reminder/ inspiration to me as it was to them.

Wow - how charming! When my 19 year old son was a toddler, he received that book as a gift, and we found it so appropriate that it became our default gift for other children's birthdays.
