Vor mehr als 30 Jahren begann ein Teenager namens Jadav "Molai" Payeng, Samen auf einer kargen Sandbank in der Nähe seines Geburtsortes in der indischen Region Assam zu pflanzen, berichtet die Asian Age .
Es war 1979, und Überschwemmungen hatten unzählige Schlangen auf die Sandbank gespült. Als Payeng – damals erst 16 Jahre alt – sie fand, waren sie alle tot.
„Die Schlangen starben in der Hitze, ohne jeglichen Baumschutz. Ich setzte mich hin und weinte über ihre leblosen Körper“, sagte Payeng der Times of India .
„Es war ein Gemetzel. Ich habe die Forstbehörde alarmiert und gefragt, ob man dort Bäume anpflanzen könnte. Sie sagten, dort würde nichts wachsen. Stattdessen rieten sie mir, es mit Bambus zu versuchen. Es war mühsam, aber ich habe es getan. Niemand war da, der mir helfen konnte“, sagte er der Zeitung.
Die einst karge Sandbank ist heute ein weitläufiger, 1.360 Hektar großer Wald, der mehreren tausend Baumarten und einer erstaunlichen Vielfalt an Wildtieren – darunter Vögel, Hirsche, Affen, Nashörner, Elefanten und sogar Tiger – Heimat bietet.
Der Wald, der treffend nach dem Spitznamen seines Schöpfers „Molai-Wälder“ genannt wird, wurde von einem einzigen Mann – Payeng, der heute 47 Jahre alt ist – im Alleingang angepflanzt und kultiviert.
Laut Asian Age hat Payeng sein Leben dem Erhalt und dem Wachstum des Waldes gewidmet. Er akzeptierte ein Leben in Abgeschiedenheit und lebte bereits als Teenager allein auf der Sandbank, wo er seine Tage mit der Pflege der sprießenden Pflanzen verbrachte.
Auch heute noch lebt Payeng im Wald. Er teilt sich eine kleine Hütte mit seiner Frau und seinen drei Kindern und verdient seinen Lebensunterhalt mit dem Verkauf von Kuh- und Büffelmilch. Laut Gunin Saikia, dem stellvertretenden Forstdirektor, handelt es sich dabei möglicherweise um den größten Wald der Welt, der mitten in einem Fluss liegt.
„Wir waren überrascht, einen so dichten Wald auf der Sandbank vorzufinden“, sagte Saikia gegenüber der Times of India und fügte hinzu, dass die Behörden in der Region erst 2008 von Payengs Wald erfahren hätten.
Endlich könnte Payeng die Hilfe und Anerkennung erhalten, die er verdient.
„Die Einheimischen wollten den Wald abholzen, aber Payeng forderte sie heraus, ihn stattdessen zu töten. Er behandelt die Bäume und Tiere wie seine eigenen Kinder. Als wir das sahen, beschlossen auch wir, mitzuhelfen“, sagte Saikia.

Its literary meaning "ONE MAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE." If he was able to do it why not 10 people share to plant a tree and make sure it will grow, not just plant a tree and let it grow as in the wild...No we have to make sure it will grow.

This man has more will than any one i have recently read about!! He is more powerful than our President and Prime Minister who cannot even have an hecter of land protected. He "Jadav "Molai" Payeng" should be our Minister of Agriculture and Forest as the current one in place have no clue of what a plant is...!! Our prime minister should have him in the ministry asap. We are proud of you Jadav "Molai" Payeng...Jai Hind!!

The harvest one reaps each day is the fruits of the past which were planted by one in the past. The seed one plants in one's inner mechanism of mind, body and speech after tasting the fruits will be the fruit of the future. The seed that relates to mankind are the likes and dislikes. A like seed will result in a sweet fruit and a dislike seed will result in a bitter fruit.
e.g. of a seed: Have you have the following projection (seed) after tasting the fruit of hurting, causing someone to hurt or supporting someone hurting even slightly the ego of any living being?
I a total of 9 test of which one can see the seed's which are planted in one's life on a continuously.
Truly inspiring what one person can do if they have passion and great love for what they do. Teaches me to find what I love and grow it to a huge forest.
