Il y a plus de 30 ans, un adolescent nommé Jadav « Molai » Payeng a commencé à planter des graines le long d'un banc de sable aride près de son lieu de naissance dans la région indienne d'Assam, rapporte l' Asian Age .
C'était en 1979, et les inondations avaient charrié un grand nombre de serpents sur le banc de sable. Lorsque Payeng, alors âgé de seulement 16 ans, les trouva, ils étaient tous morts.
« Les serpents sont morts de chaleur, sans aucun abri d'arbres. Je me suis assis et j'ai pleuré sur leurs corps sans vie », a déclaré Payeng au Times Of India .
« C'était un carnage. J'ai alerté les services forestiers et leur ai demandé s'ils pouvaient y planter des arbres. Ils m'ont répondu que rien ne pousserait. Ils m'ont plutôt conseillé d'essayer de faire pousser du bambou. C'était pénible, mais je l'ai fait. Personne n'était là pour m'aider », a-t-il déclaré au journal.
Cette ancienne langue de sable aride est aujourd'hui une vaste forêt de 1 360 acres, abritant plusieurs milliers d'espèces d'arbres et une faune d'une diversité étonnante, comprenant des oiseaux, des cerfs, des singes, des rhinocéros, des éléphants et même des tigres.
La forêt, judicieusement appelée « bois de Molai » d'après le surnom de son créateur, a été plantée et cultivée à lui seul par un seul homme : Payeng, qui a aujourd'hui 47 ans.
Selon l' Asian Age , Payeng a consacré sa vie à la préservation et à l'expansion de la forêt. Acceptant une vie d'isolement, il a commencé à vivre seul sur le banc de sable dès l'adolescence, passant ses journées à soigner les jeunes pousses.
Aujourd'hui, Payeng vit toujours dans la forêt. Il partage une petite hutte avec sa femme et ses trois enfants et gagne sa vie en vendant du lait de vache et de bufflonne. Selon Gunin Saikia, conservateur adjoint des forêts, il s'agit peut-être de la plus grande forêt du monde située au milieu d'un fleuve.
« Nous avons été surpris de découvrir une forêt aussi dense sur le banc de sable », a déclaré Saikia au Times Of India , ajoutant que les autorités de la région n'avaient appris l'existence de la forêt de Payeng qu'en 2008.
Enfin, Payeng pourrait obtenir l'aide — et la reconnaissance — qu'il mérite.
« Les habitants voulaient abattre la forêt, mais Payeng les a mis au défi de le tuer à la place. Il traite les arbres et les animaux comme ses propres enfants. Voyant cela, nous avons nous aussi décidé de lui prêter main-forte », a déclaré Saikia.

Its literary meaning "ONE MAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE." If he was able to do it why not 10 people share to plant a tree and make sure it will grow, not just plant a tree and let it grow as in the wild...No we have to make sure it will grow.

This man has more will than any one i have recently read about!! He is more powerful than our President and Prime Minister who cannot even have an hecter of land protected. He "Jadav "Molai" Payeng" should be our Minister of Agriculture and Forest as the current one in place have no clue of what a plant is...!! Our prime minister should have him in the ministry asap. We are proud of you Jadav "Molai" Payeng...Jai Hind!!

The harvest one reaps each day is the fruits of the past which were planted by one in the past. The seed one plants in one's inner mechanism of mind, body and speech after tasting the fruits will be the fruit of the future. The seed that relates to mankind are the likes and dislikes. A like seed will result in a sweet fruit and a dislike seed will result in a bitter fruit.
e.g. of a seed: Have you have the following projection (seed) after tasting the fruit of hurting, causing someone to hurt or supporting someone hurting even slightly the ego of any living being?
I a total of 9 test of which one can see the seed's which are planted in one's life on a continuously.
Truly inspiring what one person can do if they have passion and great love for what they do. Teaches me to find what I love and grow it to a huge forest.
