The Gift We Already Carry

A man was flying down a hill, certain of himself, when a stranger's warning went unheeded — and then came the collision. Sometimes the wake-up call arrives exactly as predicted, and still we are surprised.

What followed was years of losing: a marriage, a clinic, a carefully constructed identity. And in each loss, something truer was uncovered. Not achievement. Not expertise. Simply the capacity to turn fully toward another person.

"Presence is the one gift we all arrive on this Earth carrying in equal measure. Not money, not time, not talent — presence."

We spend our attention all day long, often without noticing. We hand it to fear, to noise, to the endless scroll. But it remains, always, ours to redirect. One minute of genuine witness — holding someone in their joy, believing in what they cannot yet believe for themselves — moves something real in the world.

The deepest work, it seems, is not doing more. It is learning to be here, fully, for what is already before us.

Where will you place your attention today — and what might shift if you offered it as a gift?

I got the app but it doesn’t seem like it’s active or has been used much in the past 2 years… I don’t think many people are on it?

Hi, Thank you for downloading it, but we have not officially launched. We still have test data, and no one is on it yet. Very soon, and then please feel free to create a Village and invite those that want to have their wishes held by all of us. Thanks, Scott

Oh my heart, I love this idea of holding someone's wish for them and placing presence and love and spirit into it! Beautiful work! Also, it took me until my 50s to also learn: "being present is not the absence of work; it is the work." 🙏 Thank you!
PS. My wish is to provide Kintsugi wrapped in Narrative Therapy workshops once again and in a way that sustains me and those participating 🙏

I’m wondering where you are located. My husband really wants to learn Kintsugi. He’s done a little bit and I would love to gift him a workshop. What you’re wishing for meets what he’s wishing for!
