杰鲁是一位以建立庞大的全球联盟而闻名的社会企业家，她最初在孟买起步，帮助街头儿童。她把自己的私人电话号码给了他们，以备紧急情况之需。
很快，每天晚上都会响起铃声。
正是出于这份关爱，以及对系统需求的认识，儿童热线应运而生。任何流浪儿童都可以拨打免费电话，接听电话的是一位训练有素、富有同情心的流浪儿童。不久之后，援助就会送到他们手中。
其后果意义深远。公共服务能够更好地满足需求。服务质量的好坏变得一目了然。资源短缺的地区获得了更多资源。而警察滥用职权的现象也大幅减少，因为即使只是半个街区外向热心的接线员举报警察对朋友的所作所为，也能迅速给涉事警察带来麻烦。
免费儿童热线服务很快扩展到印度50多个城市，随后又扩展到143个国家。
近年来，杰鲁基金会致力于帮助所有年轻人了解并获得金融服务。这对于他们的安全和未来至关重要。这项工作体现在“儿童与青少年金融国际组织”（Child & Youth Finance International）中，该组织是另一个卓越的全球联盟，在2014年惠及了3600万儿童和青少年。
是什么让杰鲁从周围那些优秀的职业人士中脱颖而出？因为她很早就意识到自己拥有更大的力量。大约11岁时，她组织公寓楼里的所有家政工人开设银行账户。她认为自己对金融知识普及和金融渠道的兴趣，正是源于那次行动。
她16岁那年真正地离开了家。她的母亲是帕西族贫困学生学校的社工，主要负责家庭和其他非学术方面的事情。杰鲁觉得这是个错误。因为一半的学生都因为数学或英语不及格而辍学，她认为这才是应该投入精力的地方。
她的母亲非常擅长帮助杰鲁成为一名企业家，她让女儿自己设计实现目标的方案，并把她介绍给了塔塔学院的教职人员。杰鲁向教职人员请教如何更好地教授英语和数学时，几位教职人员建议她去拜访格洛丽亚·德·索萨，格洛丽亚当时正在推广“环境教育”，这是一种基于在真实环境中解决问题的替代死记硬背的教学方法。杰鲁拜访了格洛丽亚；她们建立了合作关系；杰鲁向帕西学校的校长推销了这种新方法，她的母亲在一旁鼓励她，并没有插手重要的会议。格洛丽亚培训了杰鲁，她们一起合作实施。格洛丽亚是阿育王基金会的第一位研究员。

Thank you for following your heart and helping so many children.
helping children resist bullying by police awesome. Helping them become financially smart great but here is the rub. Financializing everything has created the abstract reality that endows the banking industry and fellow corporate entities to claim ever more power and this is not really a wise thing. The short term goal to riches has exploited and trashed many things of greater yet more subtle value! The who, what and why benefits in this old story can change radically if humans intentionally shifted the paradigm from want and greed to story that nurtures the potential of everyone so that new possibilities could bloom. We cannot actualize what we cannot imagine. Anyway until the bullying of hierarchy itself is stopped how can the street bullying stop? After all the old system was built on the ideas of the god/kings and the lesser beings that served them, personally the god/kings appear as silly ego justifying immature souls but whatever!..
