Once upon a time, there was a very wise teacher named Shinzen. He was almost eighty years old, with white hair and kind eyes. But Shinzen had a wonderful secret—inside, he felt like he was eight years old AND eighteen years old AND eighty years old, all at the same time!

The eight-year-old part of him felt excited, like a child in a candy store full of wonderful ideas. The eighteen-year-old part dreamed big dreams about helping people. And the eighty-year-old part had learned so much about being calm and peaceful inside, even when things felt hard.

For many years, Shinzen taught people something special called meditation—a way to sit quietly and feel peaceful, even when you're worried or your body hurts. He loved helping people feel better. But there was one problem that made him sad: he was just one person. He couldn't be with everyone who needed help, all around the world, at the same time.

Then Shinzen had an idea as bright as a sunrise. What if he could create a helper—like a very smart, very kind robot friend—that could teach meditation to anyone, anywhere, anytime? A helper that could speak every language in the world, from English to Swahili. A helper that would never get tired or grumpy, and would be there whenever someone pressed a button and said, "I need help feeling calm."

Some people worried. "Can a robot really teach something so special?" they asked. But Shinzen smiled. He explained that this helper wouldn't replace human teachers—it would be like a magical book that could talk with you, listen to you, and guide you, hour after hour, for as long as you needed.

"Long ago," Shinzen said, "only kings and emperors could have their own meditation teachers. Now everyone can have this gift—for free."

And so Shinzen worked on his dream, testing it carefully to make sure it was kind and safe and helpful. He imagined it like a gentle breath of kindness floating through the world, helping people discover the calm, peaceful feeling that was already inside them, waiting to be found.

As you close your eyes tonight, remember: just like Shinzen's helper, peace is always there, ready whenever you need it. All you have to do is take a deep breath and look inside.

Shinzen Young joins us for an Awakin Call on Saturday, December 27th at 8am PT. RSVP here.

Wondering whether AI can share the precious gift of an enlightened 'teacher', that of presence an invaluable tool in one's 'search' for truth.

I read it through and it doesn't give any specifics for example, exactly how does this work ? I'm assuming it's an avatar with humanistic qualities speaking guiding you through an online meditation session?

AI takes up WAY too many natural resources for anyone who is "peaceful" to condone it.

The mechanical voice of a bot is Not a human voice. Recorded human voice meditations carry the human soul, bots do not. Bots are not capable of human empathy; they carry information but not the healing loving connection of love. The human voice, touch, and empathy bring healing peace and wellbeing, allowing for the flourishing of human creativity. We are all one. To remain healthy and flourishing we need our love; bots do not love.
